So of course when the song “Automatic” – the first single off their new album Humanoid - was released, we knew that fans would quickly embrace it. We certainly weren’t wrong, with 21% of the 29 500+ votes, deeming “Automatic” as Song of the Year in the 2009 Portrait Choice Awards! Not bad for a song that only took two hours to write!

The Kaulitz twins had just enrolled in school, when their parents got divorced in 1995. It was a shock for Bill and Tom (20). Shortly after the divorce, their mother, Simone got to know the musician, Gordon Trümper, and fell in love with him, in 2009 they got married. Gordon became the loving stepfather of the twins and he brought them the music. Their biological father, Jörg (lives in Hannover and works as a truck driver) have barely contact with Bill and Tom. The pain of the parents's divorce is still there deep in them, so both are even afraid of long-term love relationships.
